Linda Nguyen, our President, is a third year majoring in business administration concentrating in human resource management with a minor in communications. She decided to join SHRM to be exposed to the HR field and strengthen her professional skills. Through SHRM Linda has experienced company tours, increased professional HR connections and gained her very first HR internship at the SJSU Library. Aside from school, Linda enjoys soccer and being around friends. She is super excited to study in Germany this summer and set to head to Spain for her remaining undergrad year. Linda is also a part of the Braven Network as well as the Alpha Omicron Pi Organization at SJSU.
Krista Gustafson, our current Vice President of SHRM at SJSU. She is expected to graduate in Fall 2017 with her major in Business with a concentration in Human Resources Management and a minor in Science. Krista is interested in Human Resources because she wants to help others, assist in enforcing compliance with regulations for companies, and ensure that companies provide the best opportunities for their employees. SHRM has been a great way for Krista to network and learn more about all the different aspects of Human Resource Management. In her free time, she enjoys watching sports, The Vampire Diaries, and crocheting.
Our current Vice president of Operations, Robin Sharma, is currently in his last semester at SJSU majoring in Recreation Management. He decided to join SHRM at SJSU, because he decided to change his focus into Human Resource in his last year. He saw a great opportunity and thought SHRM could introduce him to the world of HR. In his last year, while a member of SHRM he experienced what the HR world offers and built connections through networking at events that SHRM hosted. In his free time, he likes to play basketball, spend time with family and friends.
Karina Vals, our VP of Finance, is a third year studying Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. Karina decided to join SHRM to develop her personal and professional skills that will help her achieve her career goals. SHRM provided Karina with a great opportunity to learn about different job opportunities in the HR field. In her free time, Karina enjoys hanging out with friends, reading books, and watching movies.
Ritika Kumar, our VP of membership, is a third year studying Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management. She decided to join SHRM because she wanted to create new connections and learn about how to get involved in the human resource career field. SHRM has helped Ritika learn about the different facets of human resource management, and has given her a new platform of leadership that she can use to build her career. In her free time, Ritika likes to watch TV shows, read, listen to music, and spend time with family and friends.
Greetings from the VP of Mentorship of SHRM@SJSU - Jasmeet Singh! Jasmeet is a Psychology major at SJSU and minoring in Business. She had decided to join SHRM@SJSU last year, Spring 2016, as a member in hopes to learning more about HR and networking with HR professionals. In Fall 2016, Jasmeet decided to take one step further and join SHRM as an officer, VP of Careers. This has helped her gain experience in leadership as well as helped her grow in her academic and professional career. She hopes to gain a lot more from SHRM now as a graduating senior, such as career opportunities and meeting new professionals in the work force. During her free time, Jasmeet loves to relax and hang out with family and friends. As of this semester, this is the only organization Jasmeet is affiliated with on campus.
Lavanya is a fourth-year business major with a concentration in Human Resource Management. She initially decided to join SHRM as a member to learn more about HR and the opportunities it had to offer. After joining, she gained so much more! After participating in the club's activities and events, Lavanya learned more about HR, made some new friends, and made many connections through networking. As an officer, she hopes to help members just as SHRM helped her when she was a new member! From the club, Lavanya hopes to meet more people, learn more about HR, and gain new leadership skills. In her free time, she likes to read, enjoy her favorite foods, watch shows and movies, and hang out with friends. Overall, she's excited for this upcoming semester!
Anay Guzman, our current VP of Communications, she is looking forward for graduation day as it is approaching. She is soon to receive her degree as a Business Major with a concentration in Human Resource Management. Anay, joined SHRM during fall 2016, she heard of the amazing opportunities that SHRM had to offer and she thought it was a great way to open different doors. The events offered in this organization where beyond expected, which Anay gained more about what professionals are expecting after graduation. This year as an officer, she hopes to help others get the experience and more out of their semester as a student and SHRM member. As she enjoys helping others out because it also helps her gain more knowledge from others. On her free time, she enjoys exercising and learning new things along with her two-year-old daughter.
Sylvia Gomez, our VP of Events, is a third year pursuing a degree in Business Administration concentrating in human resource management. She became a SHRM member during fall of 2016 in hopes of gaining in depth information about roles in HR. By joining, Sylvia could connect with people who shared the same HR interests, give back to the community, participate in a resume workshop, and attend company tours to get insight on how HR departments function. Sylvia had a positive experience as a member and decided to become an officer to be in a position of influence. Her goal is to encourage others to be involved and to take advantage of all the great opportunities SHRM offers. Sylvia is an adventure seeker who enjoys trying new things and visiting new places. In the summer of 2016 she gave skydiving a try, and she plans to visit a country she has never been to in the future.
