"Bridging the gap between a student and a professional"
Hello! My name is Chelsea and I am very honored to serve as your Spring ‘19 President. SHRM has given me tremendous amount of opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. The amount of connections I have made so far are very near and dear to my heart. Lifelong friendships is one big thing that I have SHRM to thank for! I am a recipient of the 2018 Lisa Burke Undergraduate Scholarship from the SHRM Foundation, and have been on the SHRM@SJSU Board for 3 consecutive semesters holding both VP of Communications & VP Membership roles. I have met an abundant amount of wonderful people, and I hope to soon connect with each and everyone of you this semester. My goal is to give back: especially to you, the members. To tell you to continue to grow, seek out challenging opportunities— but ultimately...be your true authentic self!

Thank you for visiting our page! My name is Hector Gonzales and I am excited to serve as your Vice President of Membership for Spring 2019. I am currently a second year majoring in Business with a concentration in Human Resource Management. I am also a Resident Advisor for Campus Village 2 and a part time barista. Music is a big part of me as I like to go to different music festivals. I can’t wait for all the different programs we have set for you all. Hello and thanks for visiting our page! My name is Maya and I am honored to be your Vice President of Careers this semester. I graduated from De Anza in 2016 and transferred to SJSU last year (2018). I took 2 years off school to work full time and it was tough to return to college, especially as I wasn’t sure what I wanted to major in. I am especially grateful to SHRM at SJSU for motivating me to complete my degree and connecting me with my current full time HR job! With over 6 years of diverse industry experience, I am happy to answer any questions you have about internships, contract employment, and full time employment in retail and corporate. We will be having our biannual events Resume Blast and Mock Interview this semester, as well as an exciting event bringing back our amazing SHRM at SJSU alumni. Be on the lookout for job opportunity emails from me and make sure to keep up with our job board and Handshake! I’m excited to have an incredible semester with you.

Hello everyone! My name is Jasmine and I will be serving as the Spring of 2019 Executive Vice President. I originally transferred from Evergreen Valley College during Fall 2017 with an AS-T in Business Administration and will be graduating this semester with a bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management. I joined SHRM in the Spring of 2018 because I wanted to become more involved on campus, as well as make new connections ranging from students to professionals in the field. SHRM has definitely helped me become more proactive and passionate about HR, having served as the Fall’ 18 VP of Operations. In my spare time I enjoy eating at new food places, visiting a variety of milk tea spots, as well as listening to BTS’ new album. I look forward to making a difference during my last semester on the board and to meeting you all!

Hi! My name is Anmol and SHRM has been a community which has encouraged me to become a better professional and an empathetic individual. I have been part of the SHRM@SJSU for 2 years and held VP of Career position within that position I spearheaded the professional development through organizing and leading workshops (salary negotiation, resume, mock interview & DI) company tours (Cisco, ServiceNow, Intuitive Surgical, Western Digital, Seagate). I am very excited to serve as V P of Mentorship because the mentorship program is very dear to my heart because through this program I met first HR mentor who has guided, supported and counseled me. Through this program, I hope to provide you a comparable triumphant experience where you feel empowered and build a support system where you have a place to learn and become a better individual through the support of an HR professional. I hope to get to know you this semester.

Hi everyone! I’m David and I’m excited to be your Director of Involvement this semester. I transferred to SJSU from De Anza Community College in Fall 2017. I originally went into HR because I felt I could use the practice to optimize organizational performance and drive the bottom line to a high profit. However, through SHRM@SJSU I learned there’s so much more to HR than performance with a dollar value. SHRM taught me to appreciate having an incredible team I can always count on such as my fellow officers. SHRM taught me to recognize the effort and potential of everyone in your network and your organization such as all of the amazing members who make SHRM the best club out there. SHRM granted me work experience in recruitment, employee engagement, HRIS, and social media, but most importantly allowed me to give back to those not blessed with all of the great opportunities I’ve been given through our volunteering events. I can’t wait to get everyone INVOLVED in SHRM@SJSU because I know that together we’ll not only bridge the gap from student to professional; we’re going to put the best “human” in Human Resources.

Hello everyone! My name is Kimberly and I am your Vice President of Finance for this semester. I transferred from Foothill College to San Jose State University in Fall 2017. I initially declared as a General Business major because I knew that I wanted to do something related to Business, but I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to go with it. After joining SHRM last year, I discovered that II had a true passion and love for working in HR. I currently work on campus as the Student Assistant of Operations for the College of Professional and Global Education, where I collaborate closely with internal operations and its HR department. When I am not busy working or studying, I like to take my dog Rosie to the dog park or have a coffee with my friends. I look forward to meeting and connecting with all of you!

I am a third year Business major with a concentration in Human Resources Management. I just switched to HR from General business this semester. For the last two years I was unsure what I wanted to concentrate in, but after joining SHRM last semester and learning so many things about Human Resources and making amazing connections with other HR majors I knew HR was for me! Hello there! My name is Theresa and I am your Director of Affairs for Spring 2019. I am very excited to meet everyone and am so ready to make this semester as fun as possible. Having that said, SHRM has been one of the most fulfilling clubs I’ve ever joined and I am so grateful to have been welcomed into such a loving family. Not only has SHRM allowed me to meet incredible individuals and connected me with my mentor-who I still turn to for advice, I am continually learning the necessary professional skills that will assist me in my career. SHRM has given me so much in the short amount of time I’ve been with them and I am thrilled to be a part of the team that makes company tours, workshops, programs, etc. possible for everyone to lavish in!

My name is Osman Ho and I will be your Vice President of Operations during the Spring of 2019. I transferred to San Jose State University Fall 2018 from De Anza Community College to pursue my Bachelors of Communication Studies. I always knew that I wanted to go into business and communication, but SHRM has helped me to discover exactly what I wanted to do. I am currently part of the Nike San Jose team as a part-time footwear specialist. As a full time student with a part time job, I can get swamped with work. However, I will always make time for you and get back to you, so if you need any footwear tips, college advice, a workout/basketball partner, or any information on SHRM, feel free to ask me or anyone of the other officers!
