"Bridging the gap between a student and a professional"
Hello everyone! I’m Kimberly Ma and I will be serving as your President for Fall 2019. I am extremely excited to connect with amazing people and form lasting relationships through something that I am very passionate about: Human Resources. I’ve held multiple positions throughout my time at SHRM including participating as a member, serving as an officer, and now leading as the President. I’ve learned so much through my experiences here and I can’t wait to give back. Welcome, everyone!

Hi everyone. My name is Theresa Vo and I am a fourth year studying HR Management. I found myself stumbling upon this fascinating world of HR and I don’t plan on leaving any time soon. The more I dive in, the more I realize that there is still so much to learn and SHRM has never failed to support this. SHRM has repeatedly walked me through doorways for professional growth and meaningful relationships. I owe it to this organization to do a great job as your Executive Vice President.

Hi! I’m Maya, HR Management senior. This is my 4th semester in SHRM at SJSU and my 2nd semester as an officer! I’m a transfer student from De Anza and was originally going to be a Psychology/Child Development major. I’ve worked in multiple industries (I took 3 years off school to work full-time) and currently work on campus at the Career Center. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about working in almost any industry. I’ve made so many amazing friends in SHRM and I look forward to meeting you!

Hi! I’m Emily, your Director of Involvement. I’m a graduating senior, studying to get my B.A. in Psychology. Being in SHRM has provided me with a safe space to grow both personally and professionally and I’m super excited to serve on the board during my last semester! I met with an HR professional through SHRM and she said to me, “HR is the psychology of business.” This quote has always stuck with me and has given me the confidence to pursue a career in this field. I look forward to meeting you and I hope SHRM too gives you the confidence to pursue your goals, HR or not!

Hello there! I’m Gabrielle Tocchini, and I will be your VP of Careers for Fall 2019. I’m very excited to help members “bridge the gap between a student and professional.” SHRM at SJSU holds a special place in my heart; it is one of the reasons I became an HR major. Coming to my final semester at SJSU, I credit my HR professional development and career growth to SHRM, my peers and my team. One piece of advice - take advantage of the opportunities, such as the professional workshops and programs, that this club offers. It can land you your first job or internship, just like it did for me.

Hello everyone! My name is Vu, and I will be your VP of Communications for Fall 2019. Majoring in Business Administration Management, I found HR very interesting and SHRM is a great place for me to start learning more about this profession. SHRM has helped me with all the skill set I have today, such as interviewing, writing resumes, networking, etc. By being a board member this semester, I hope I can help you guys like how SHRM has been helping me!

Hello Spartans! I am excited to serve you this semester as your VP of Events! I am currently a third year majoring in HR. I came into this degree with little to no knowledge, but after joining I have learned all about the different departments and what best suits me. As well as serving this organization, I am a Resident Advisor for Campus Village 2 and work at Starbucks. I enjoy being active in my community and being physically active by gyming, hiking and running. I met some awesome people through SHRM and I hope you can too. One of my favorite quotes is: “what you put in, you'll get out.” I put 110% in everything I do and you’ll see it! I hope to see you around, don’t hesitate to ask us for anything!

Hi everyone! My name is Nathan and I am your VP of Finance for this semester. I am in my 3rd year and majoring in Business Finance. I decided to become an officer after being part of the Involvement Team (which all of you should join) and I saw how much fun it was to work with a team to achieve a goal that benefits others. SHRM has given me so much and I would like to return the favor by bringing my knowledge of Finance and hope to create some of the best events possible as well as create new lifelong friendships.

Hey everyone! I’m Shawn Klein and yes, yes my father is Calvin Klein..not! I will be your VP of Membership this semester and my current major is Human Resources. Throughout my whole career I’ve met amazing people while working many jobs and trying new things. It wasn’t until last year that I found out my true passion was in HR which is why I joined SHRM! SHRM solidified the reason why I want to be in HR. This club means so much to me which is why I want to give back to students in the way SHRM did for me. These officers on the team are true, good, genuine people and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I can’t wait to get started! I’m here to help!

Happy Fall semester of 2019! I’m so happy to be able to serve as an officer again and I am committed to bring the best of myself to the team. Finding HR as a passion and a career was accidental; so, I’m grateful for everything that has led me to this. SHRM has been a huge factor in helping me establish a strong foundation and I hope it does the same for you too!

Greetings ya’ll, I’m Samuel your VP of Operations. I am so thankful for this opportunity to serve you guys this year and get to know you all! Joining SHRM was extensively challenging for myself as an introvert, and at first didn’t know anyone who was in this club. I was delighted to find engaging programs, informative workshops, and lifelong friendships. As HR, we all want to help our fellow students, regardless of your major or year or anything. I hope you utilize your time with us intentionally so you can prepare yourself for your promising future career!
